Shincheonji Taekwondo Team Wins Medals Again in International Competition, Elevating Global Status

Shincheonji Taekwondo team 2025 Park Chunghee Cup International Open Taekwondo Championship

Sangju, Kyeongsangbuk Jul 23, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - The Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimonyunder the leadership of Chairman Lee Man Hee demonstrated extraordinary skill and determination at the recent 2025 Park Jung-hee Cup International Open Taekwondo Championships. Held from July 18 to 21 at Sangju Indoor Gymnasium, this prestigious event hosted more than 4,200 athletes from 18 countries, including powerhouses like the United States and France, across categories such as poomsae (forms), sparring, kicking, breaking, and team demonstrations.

On July 19, 25 athletes from Shincheonji competed in the individual recognized poomsae division. Despite a limited preparation window, each athlete delivered inspired performances through disciplined training and unwavering focus. Their collective effort resulted in an outstanding tally of 4 gold, 7 silver, and 14 bronze medals, ensuring every single team member stood on the podium 

Gold medalist Lee Jun-wi shared his thoughts:

Though training time was limited, I did my best to focus within the time given. Im grateful that my efforts led to such a great outcome.

Team coach Kim Deok-hun remarked:

This was a high-level competition featuring outstanding athletes from both Korea and abroad. Im proud that our athletes delivered their best without faltering. Building on this experience, we plan to train systematically and strategically so that even more athletes can compete next year with improved skills.

The Shincheonji Taekwondo team also saw tremendous success earlier this month at the 2025 Kim Un-Yong Cup International Open Taekwondo Championships held in Busan, where all 12 participating members medaled 2 took first place, 4 second place, and 5 third place marking back-to-back full-team wins at international competitions.

The teams recent accolades build on solid past achievements. At the 2024 Mungyeong World Taekwondo Hanmadang, 5 out of 18 athletes earned awards in competitive categories like front kick and power breakingunderscoring Shincheonjis continuous excellence and robust program structure.
